Generally, as mentioned above, it should be made by a mash that has at least 51% of corn. It is said as its standard identity of this type of whiskey. Aside from corn, producers can utilize rye, wheat, and about 5% of malted barley which is primarily used in the fermentation procedure.

This type of whiskey should not be distilled in not more than 160 proof. If it exceeds the required process of separation, it will result in less flavor and will be a neutral grain spirit. It can reach 95% ABV, but it will not be this type of whiskey.

When storing this whiskey in the barrel, it should have not more than 125 proof and 62.5% ABV. As it stored for a long time, its proof also rises, that why it should be stored in a lower proof not more than 125 proof. When it comes to bottling, it must be recorded to have 40% ABV or higher or 80 proof.

Actually, there is no recommended age on how many years you should store this whiskey, as long as you do and barrelled it correctly, it can be available any time you want. However, if you wish to achieve a straight type, it should be stored for at least two years and bottled in bond for four years for the minimum.
